TCFF magazine columnist and professional fly fishing guide Ian Couryer will be presenting a Smallmouth Yellowfish workshop on :

If you have been struggling with your river yellowfish fishing and/or are new to the sport then this short course is for you.
The day starts at 10 am sharp on Saturday morning at the river.
- Lecture on the general aspects of yellowfish fishing, tackle, leaders, rigs, knots, fishing techniques, pros and cons of various methods.
- Best flies for the Vaal, seasons, water levels,clarities, insects, reading the water.
- Indicators / weight, when, where and how of fishing.
- Czech / Euro nymphing, dry fly.
- Proper catch and release techniques,river etiquette,how to identify spawning areas and spawning fish.
- Practical on the water demonstrations and walk round as group.
- Fishing practical where participants will fish and be helped by guide.
- Course finishes at 4.00pm participants are welcome to continue fishing till 6.00 pm.
Light lunch and soft drinks. 12.00 pm to 12.45 pm
Who should attend?
Any beginner to intermediate Yellowfish angler who needs expert advice / information and practical help on all aspects of river Smallmouth Yellowfish fishing.
What should you bring?
Your fishing tackle: Rod ( 9' 5 weight, 10' 4, 5, or 6 weight), reel,floating line, split shot. Breathable waders (if you own a pair) if not , you may wade wet in shorts or quick drying long pants, wading boots. (if no wading boots then running shoes with socks.) Wading staff / stick. hat / cap , sunscreen, rain jacket, towel,change of clothes.
When/Where?
Eendekuil farm,Lindeques drift, Vaal River.Specialist flies will be on sale as well as extra tippet, indicators, and Euro / Czech nymphing leaders and basic wading sticks. 2016/ 2017 dates to be decided. September 2016 next event.
Cost?
P.O.A. per person for the event , includes light lunch, soft drinks and entrance to the venue for the day.

Directions to Eendekuil from Johannesburg.
Take the N1 South ( Bloemfontein Road) through the grasmere toll plaza. Take the Potchefstroom / Van derbijl turnoff , off the highway.
Turn right over the highway bridge and continue till you see the Lindeques drift turn off at Vaal oewer/Goose bay, turn left onto Lindeques drift road.
Continue untill you reach a stop sign posted Parys/ Fochville, turn left towards Parys, continue for about 1km and then turn left onto a dirt road at the Eendekuil sign board, continue till eventually the road makes a hair pin bend to the right, the gate is a few meters after the bend and on your left.
Turn left through the tall green Eendekuil gate and then immediately left again through a white gate and proceed down to the river, park on the left.
